Wave Heights in the Gulf of Mexico for 11-2-21
Crossing the Gulf of Mexico has always been the most daunting portion of the Loop for Kay, and it's finally here. Today we're tied up in Carrabelle, Florida to restock the boat and prepare for tomorrow's crossing. This afternoon we'll motor out about seven miles to Dog Island where we'll anchor for the night, grill some steaks, and raise a toast. Before sunrise tomorrow, Adagio will set out for Steinhatchee, Florida, a distance of about 80 miles over open water. With no delays and a cruising speed of 8.5 mph, we should arrive around 5 pm. Our weather apps all point to near-perfect conditions with winds off the port bow at about 10-15 mph and wave height at zero to three feet. But we've checked the dinghy just in case! Since we'll have no cell service for most of the crossing, we've rented a satellite phone to allow the kids to track our progress. We covet your prayers for the journey.
ENJOY. Can't wait to hear all about it !
Lots of love to you brave sailors - my prayers are added to those of so many others.
Be sure to update the blog after your safe passage!
Praying for smooth sailing!! hh
Yay for satellite phones. Have fun you crazy kids!!
