Looper Rendezvous

After leaving Paducah, Kentucky, we made our way up the Ohio River and down the Cumberland River to Paris Landing Marina near Buchanan, Tennessee. (The marina actually sits on Kentucky Lake, but the geography is hard to explain without a map). There we joined 350 other current, past, and prospective Loopers for the American Great Loop Cruisers' Association's (AGLCA) semi-annual Rendezvous. Sponsored by boat brokers and Looper guidebook companies, the conference gives current and past Loopers like us a chance to share cruising stories and reconnect with fellow Loopers we've met along the way. And it helps prospective Loopers get an idea of what life on the Loop might be like through seminars, conversations with current Loopers, and tours of Looper boats called "Trawler Crawls." Many prospectives are looking to buy a boat for the Loop, and the crawls help them prioritize what they want on a boat and what they can live without, for every boat is a compromise in some way.

While Adagio was among the oldest boats on the Crawls, guests seemed to love her beautiful teak interior and spacious decks. I'm sure the wine, fresh fall mums, and southern hospitality helped as people came aboard. Since some of you have not (yet) been on board, we've included some photos of Adagio at the Trawler Crawl so you'll have an idea of what it's like to live on a 42-foot boat for a year. Enjoy!
