Happily Reunited in Washington, DC

Writer's picture: KayKay

Adagio's Potomac excursion culminated at the Capital Yacht Club on the Wharf in Washington, DC near the Smithsonian Museums, Capitol Mall, and Memorials. The Wharf is lined with restaurants and family-friendly activities and the views from the marina were wonderful. We enjoyed lunch with SMU friend Lynda Webster and her husband, Bill, former director of the FBI and CIA, followed by a VIP tour of the FBI. Bill is a spry 98 and his former colleagues at the Bureau were happy to see him.

We enjoyed another joyful reunion when our daughter Laura, husband, Mike, and kids, Eliza (3), and Townes (7 months), joined us for an overnight stay on board while in northern Virginia for a wedding. Everyone was a little unsure of how the sleeping arrangements would work but all went well. Best of all, they want to come back, which Charles says was his plan all along. Family friend, Douglas McRae and his wife, Sarah, live in DC and also joined us for dinner with their two boys. It was wonderfully chaotic having four children under four on board, but we had a great visit and were sorry to see them all go.

What a great place to tie-up! I know the DC McRaes enjoyed being aboard “Adagio.” Happy sailing. Vaughan.
